Tips for a cruise vacation

Everyone loves a vacation and there are not many more relaxing and enjoyable than a cruise. As with every vacation, proper planning well in advance is essential to making the trip a success. Firstly you should decide the location. Everyone has a dream destination in mind where one pictures oneself having a lovely time. You should carry out a study about the places and activities you are looking out for and which destination comes closest to meeting your expectations. The internet can be of immense help in deciding. When going to your travel agent for final bookings always keep in mind two or three alternate destinations so that you can always switch if the first choice is not possible.

Although people think all cruises are the same, each destination offers its own flavor and variety. The most scenic and relaxing places are the Caribbean or the Bahamas. Some other good options to view diverse natural beauty and to soak up the sun are Hawaii, Alaska, South America, South Pacific, Asia, Europe, and the Mediterranean. If you are of the more adventurous type and do not mind the extreme cold, Alaska would be a good choice for adventure, exploration, and the appreciation of nature’s grandeur. For those more interested in culture, physical and geographical diversity, Asia is a wonderful option. South America is a great place to party and also where you can explore the rain forest and ancient ruins. If you travel to the Mediterranean, you will get to see the art and culture of early Western civilizations.

Apart from the destination, you should also plan with your agent the departure port of the cruise. Due to limitations of budget, distance or time you may have to restrict yourself to certain ports and thereby certain cruises too, as the liners depart only from specific ports. For example, if you are going on a Southern Caribbean cruise on the Carnival Cruise line, you will be unable to depart from Port Canaveral, because you will only be able to depart from Fort Lauderdale, Barbados, or San Juan. And if your port is San Juan, you will only be able to go to the Southern Caribbean.

The next important step is the duration of your vacation. If you have a lot of tie you could visit all the Caribbean islands, however if you are short of time a wise decision would be to join a cruise that goes only to the more important islands.
These are some tips that will go a long way in improving your vacation cruise and making it very memorable.
